PlaceBook Scotland: Capture your place in words, pictures, video and music.
Misty, grey and haunting town, nestling in the Bay ,
Washed by the North Sea breakers , I wonder what you’d say
If your dumb mouths could opened be and giv’n the pow’r of speech
What untold tales you could unfold….what lessons you could teach ?
Did Regulus ever come ashore in the windswept, sandy Bay
Bringing the sacred , saintly bones…or is this just hearsay ?
Did the Giant of Drumcarrow ever hurl his stones of blue
At the newly-built Cathedral.. or is this just NOT true ?
Did Mary, the Queen in Reforming days past ever stay in the house of her name
Or is this another “invention”…another wee pawn in the game ?
What is the true story of Kennedy Kate? Was she really his”niece” after all ??
Or shouldn’t we add just a pinch of sea salt
To tale so INCREDIBLY “tall” ?
There are so many “doubtful” stories
Such as Hamilton’s face on the wall……
Dean’s Court “howling dog ! The White Lady !!
So many I can’t recount all.
Let’s be fair ! Does it matter a tittle
Whether History’s FICTION or FACT ??
As long as our little grey town in the Summer
With impressionable Tourists is ….PACKED ?????
