Kilmarnock is a town whose past can be found
at every pavement turn and corner.
Its former glory set into its buildings
whose power display the heady days
of industrial might and world dominion.
Its parks which are spacious and Victorian by nature,
have been the setting for many a tryst
and before the days of the Ford Cortina
were the conceptual spot for many a birth.
Those halcyon days have gone their way.
The notion now is of service and banking,
leisure time and scots wha hae
sold their birthright for a designer tartan.
