Union Canal at the Falkirk Wheel

If you don't like hills then canal walks are for you. The canal towpath was renovated some years ago and this particular stretch has lots to offer.
One favourite sirt stretch is from Falkirk High station heading westward to the Wheel and back again and should take less than an hour each way.
If you manage to start it early on a spring morning you will probably see a pair of herons on the far bank as you go through the first barrier from the station. Continue along the path and go under the bridge. On your left you will see the Seagull Trust boathouse , but take a minute to spy the views to you right where the whole of the Forth Valley to Stirling stretches out before you.
Opposite you on teh left is Bantaskine Estate. Gifted to Falkirk Council some years ago. At the top of the hill is a walled garden- talk is that it will be made into allotments.
